I lead a team of several analysts to provide expertise as it relates to the cardiology service line at Stony Brook Medicine. The focus of our team is on the specific technical nature of cardiology workflows, applications and clinical modalities and translating the needs of our clients into optimal technical solutions. Tasks/Themes:• Oversight and Alignment. Oversees and aligns department efforts with competing priorities, including projects, initiatives, optimizations and production support.• Relationships. Promotes Cardiology IT as a resource to translate client requirements into technical solutions and technical requirements, constraints and challenges into acceptable client solutions.• Expertise. Advises and recommends best practices and plans to executive leadership as they relate to cardiology workflows, applications and clinical modalities. • Capital Planning. Develops and refines capital budget as it relates to planning for cardiology related systems, projects and initiatives.• Vision. Developed a shared department vision, gaining buy-in from staff, including pillars of consistency, integration and accessibility, used to guide internal decision making and perspective as it relates to projects, initiatives, optimizations and production support.• Planning and Resourcing. Manages the department resources as they relate to short term, medium term and long term planning with consideration for projects, initiatives, optimizations and production support. • Culture. Promotes a culture of collaboration and shared ownership to achieve synergy among Cardiology IT staff.• Staff Development. Promotes professional development among staff through empowerment and ownership while assisting with the refinement of hard and soft skills.• Staff Management. Manages Cardiology IT staff as it relates to performance, behavior as well as time and attendance.• This position includes the above duties as well as all tasks assigned to Senior Programmer/Analyst - Cardiology IT.
Senior Programmer/Analyst
• Provides operational support and recommendations to the Heart Institute.• Engages in the evaluation of technology solutions to meet the needs of the Heart Institute. • Engages in workflow analysis, process mapping, process improvement and optimization for technology-based solutions.• Engages in data analytics, using tools including SQL Server Management Studio, Crystal Reports, Tableau and Surgical Profitability Compass.• Serves as project lead for all cardiology related projects, managing stakeholder needs and communications.• Organizes and leads cross-functional teams in the Heart Institute in accomplishing tasks and initiatives.• Responsible for overall department effectiveness by managing staff and resources for daily tasks, department initiatives and organizational projects.• Interacts with users and other departments at all levels across the organization to ensure their needs are being met as they relate to the Heart Institute. • Performs analysis and composes reports with findings and recommendations to leadership. • Serves as subject matter expert for all cardiology-related technology solutions, integrations and how they relate to operations, workflow and overall impact to the service line. • This position includes the above tasks as well as all tasks assigned to the Lead Programmer/Analyst – Cardiology IT.Notable Accomplishments/Projects:• Implementation of redesigned charge description master process for invasive cardiology, identifying revenue opportunities and remediating sources of revenue loss.• Implementation of redesigned workflow for outpatient device interrogation, reducing billing errors.• System implementations of GE Centricity Cardiology Workflow, Surgical Profitability Compass.• System upgrades to Siemens Syngo Dynamics, GE MUSE, and GE CardioLab.• Implementation of PDF results to the EMR for echocardiography, in progress.
Lead Programmer/Analyst
