Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, summer and winter breaks went towards visiting family and spending time outdoors. My favorite family vacation was to a small log cabin on Big Basswood Lake in Ontario, Canada, that had been passed down through my mother's family for generations. It had no running water, no indoor plumbing, a wood burning stove, and enough electricity for the few lamps placed around the single main room. Every summer for one or two weeks I'd spend the days exploring the lakeside, swimming in the crystal clear water, drawing maps of the shoreline and bordering forest, and catching crawdads hiding beneath the rocks.I initially went to college intending to be a biomedical engineer like my father whom I grew up watching make prosthetic devices for amputees, but I quickly discovered it was not for me; in 2023, I graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Chemical Engineering and minors in English Literature and Environmental Engineering. My goal now is to apply my chemical engineering knowledge and engineering perspective to environmental problems. I am interested in renewable energies, wildlife conservation, climate change solutions, environmental justice, and other related fields. I love learning about advancements in climate change technologies and innovative solutions to the myriad of environmental problems this planet faces, and I'd love to talk about them, so please reach out and connect if you would like to as well!Currently, I am the Data Manager at the Finger Lakes Institute, a nonprofit research clearing house under Hobart and William Smith Colleges that focuses on environmental issues in the Finger Lakes watershed. I specialize in using the R programming ecosystem to communicate data science insights through visualization, modelling, and public-facing web-applications with Shiny. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or would like to discuss topics on environmental science in the Finer Lakes!
