This course was divided into two sections, the first took place in the classroom and the second was spent living/working in the field. Part 1: Introduction to ArcMap GIS software. Working with digital elevation models and LIDAR data to understand the field area and produce base maps for field work in the later portion of the course. Part 2:~3 weeks mapping structures in the Paleozoic Poleta Formation. Field work was both independent and instructor led, we used a contour base map and Brunton compasses to plot lithologic contacts and bedding attitudes. Our final report included a complete geologic map of a large field area within the Poleta Fold Belt. This map included a cross-section describing structures at depth. This report included a stratigraphic column of the lithologic members of the Poleta Fm. observed in the field area, rock descriptions of each lithologic member, a detailed explanation of observed geologic structures and a defense of the interpretation of these structures. The report concluded with a geologic history, hypothesizing a minimum number of events needed to produce the structures observed.

Responsibilities included keeping accurate records of animal husbandry and feeding success, food preparation and execution of feeding schedule for the entire marine animal collection (fish, sharks, jelly fish, mollusks, echinoderms, etc.). Maintained cleanliness and aesthetic of 8 large display aquariums, a shark pool, a touch table and two jellyfish displays. Assisted in large cleaning projects, Monitoring and treating sick animals, ensuring quarantine procedures to prevent cross contamination between aquariums.
