Lunchbox Theatre opearates a small office and performance space in downtown Calgary. I started consulting with Lunchbox mid to late 2012 and assisted with network and server operations supporting Theatre Manager, a postgresql based patron focused CRM system.Since that time we have migrated from on premises file and CRM servers to cloud based systems accessed via VPN. I now manage nearly all IT operations including but not limited to network (Wired, WiFi, Guest WiFi), printers, user systems (Windows, Linux, and MacOS), and servers (Windows 2012, Linux).

I have been contracted to manage IT operations at One Yellow Rabbit.
Responcibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintaining existing systems (Mostly OS X, with a few Windows systems)
Maintaining OS X server and associated servics (Filesharing, Backups, TimeMachine, Calendar, User/Groups)
Managing and troubleshooting network (Physical Cabling/Security, Firewalls, Router, WiFi, Guest WiFi, WiFi extenders)
Sourcing and researching new equipment and services (Evaluating ShiftBoard, Purchasing Laptops, Firewalls, designing backup solutions)
Moving heavy things (Sometimes in a theatre heavy things need to be moved. I help out when I can)

It all started with desk side support, but that's never enough. The WiFi wouldn't roam properly so after some kicking that got redone. Renegotiating our WAN link was an accident, but the kind that increases speed and saves money, so it was good? I then ransacked the VOIP network to escape a ridiculous vendor. The office renovations and subsequent network expansion was a blast. Pulling cables was a pain, but putting the desks together was good meditation.New fileservers for backups, live data, and live collaboration. It is amazing how crazy 50TB can get.Helping the developers with dev and qa systems is a mixed bag, but keeping live client sites from falling apart can make you feel like a super hero. But, still first and foremost, I am here to keep technology from being a problem. How can I help?

Penn West was migrating their on site datacenter to a private cage in a facility manged by a local telecom. I was brought onboard to assist in migrating and reconfiguring the SCADA network of over 500 devices to communicate with the new facility with minimal downtime.As we were able to safely achieve our goal of a minimal interuption migration in less time than anticipated I also assisted in the inventory and physical decomissioning/moving of equipment and licencing.

I provided onsite computer repairs and laptop repair. I worked with a small team to solve any computer issue that our clients came up with.I worked part time at Ducktoes while working on my degree.

At Q9 I was responsible for performing all the day to day operations at the datacenter, including tape rotations, cage audits, and inventory checks. In addition to those operations I was required to assist clients with their systems if they are unable to remotely access them, and work on Q9 core equipment for maintenance, and other tasks that require someone on site. I was full time in this position until September 2009 when they graciously created a part time position for me so I could enroll in university. (TL;DNR, Make sure lights are flashing or not flashing as appropriate.)

IDS is a small office so it required me to be a generalist. I was required to program patches for the reporting software, monitor and maintain 7 servers, manage, setup, and develop for our Asterisk PBX system, interact with clients on rigs to diagnose and solve issues with our software and hardware onsite, interact with clients in the office to get their requirements and meet them in a timely fashion. I was also sent to clients rig locations to do training on the products.

I was responsible for answering helpdesk calls and e-mails in an 80% call resolution environment. I would follow up with clients, and escalate issues when necessary. NewAlta was a very standard helpdesk environment.

At Voodoo I cross trained in Servicing and Building. Phone Support resolving customer issues, and creating RMA’s. Maintaining and developing for the Software and Testing suite used on new systems. Experience with both laptop and desktops. I also initiated a concession stand at Voodoo.
