  • Spot Technology
    Founder And Lead Engineer
    Spot Technology Sep 2016 - Jun 2020
http://www.SPOTechnology.com/I founded SPOT Technology with my friend Jonathan to promote, share, and market our engineering projects. I am particularly excited to have combined my two passions, climbing and making, into the creation of RFiClimb - the world's first rock climbing fitness tracker. My tracker incorporates an RFID reader, battery, and Bluetooth transmitter into a wearable wristband. RFID cards, similar to hotel key cards, are then placed at each climbing hold in a rock gym. The tracker reads the card and transmits the climber's position to their smartphone or the gym's central computer. Using RFiClimb, climbers can analyze their training, competitions can be more precisely judged, and gyms can monitor the usage of their routes.Over the last few years, we patented our system (US Patent US10507373B2) and successfully licensed this patent to industry (Climbalytics LLC, www.climbalytics.com). My proceeds from the sale are being put back into SPOT Technology to fund future endeavors and are being applied toward the cost of my college education. Our product is now installed in multiple commercial climbing gyms and will be available for purchase by individual climbers in early 2020.
