When the pandemic hit, it pointed me in a direction I hadn’t considered in years: graduate school. I finally had all this newly acquired free time; if I didn’t take advantage of it now, I knew I never would. I chose business intelligence and analytics due to the vast array of career possibilities, but I discovered a passion for analytics that I would have never expected. I love the satisfaction of compiling large amounts of data and turning it into a viable business strategy. It’s challenging, rewarding, and is constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape.I graduated in May 2022 with a master’s degree in information systems with a business intelligence and analytics concentration from MTSU. I have taken classes in various subjects, including business intelligence, database design development, data mining predictive analytics, SQL for ETL and analytics, IT project management, and more. These classes have given me theoretical and hands-on knowledge of SQL, Tableau, Python, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Hadoop, and C#. By working hands-on with these technologies, I have gained valuable experience for applying my knowledge to my next career.I have over three years of experience coordinating logistical support for the sales representatives and hospitals in the Nashville and surrounding areas in my current role. My responsibilities include managing the Nashville district office inventory supply chain and running daily reports analyzing the area’s sales to determine strategic business decisions. I plan to use my existing professional experience combined with my continued education to improve revenue and business strategies in a business intelligence or data analyst role.
