    As a graduate student and post-doc, I authored articles and a book chapter in the field of thermochemical kinetics and density functional theory (DFT).http://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=vgKmhoUAAAAJI wrote code in Perl and other languages to manage many aspects of this research. I wrote and used genetic algorithms to optimize basis set and DFT parameters. I developed databases to manage hundreds of thousands of electronic structure calculations. In addition to writing code for data management, I did some optimization of Fortran and C code, and parallelization using MPI and OpenMP.
