I am an experienced senior and executive level manager, with an extensive practice background in both local authority social work and voluntary sector national management, principally in social care, counselling and advice services. I am currently the Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Edinburgh, where I am responsible for the strategic direction and management of the organisation. I began my career as a Local Authority Social Worker, working in a number of locations throughout the UK and laterally worked as a Senior Social Worker in Edinburgh. I left the local authority to take up an opportunity to manage the expansion of the ChildLine Helpline service in Scotland. After 20 months in post, I was offered a secondment to lead the implementation of ChildLines national business development and improvement strategy, after which I took on management responsibility for the implementation of their innovative ChildLine Schools Service across Scotland.In 2013 I was head hunted for the position of Head of Service Development with Capability Scotland, before taking up my current post as Chief Executive of CAE in April 2016.My key strengths are in leadership, business development, service improvement, child and adult protection and developing local and national stakeholder partnerships. I have experience in managing both children and adult social work services and for the growth and management of a number of voluntary sector services across the UK, including child protection, disability, social care, counselling and advice services. In addition to my professional employment, I have been the Chairperson on the Board of Directors for the Health Opportunities Team in Edinburgh. This was a charitable organisation providing counselling and therapeutic support to young people in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Edinburgh. In that role I provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, as well as holding overall responsibility for the services we deliver.
