Power & Energy Business Unit: Power Networks - Design team.(formerly Sinclair Knight Merz)Projects I worked on included:- Project management of various TransGrid drafting work packages to deliver within budget and on schedule. - Audits of Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSP) compliance submissions including Annual Regulatory Information Notice (RIN), Economic Benchmarking RIN and Reset RIN which are submitted to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) and Licence Conditions submitted to IPART. DNSPs audited include Essential Energy, Ausgrid, Essential Energy, ActewAGL and SA Power Networks.- Provided support in designing ASP Level 3 connections for electrical equipment on the M5 West Widening project. Works involved liaising with Endeavour Energy throughout the Level 3 ASP process. Prepared appropriate documentation including design drawings which were certified by Endeavour Energy.- Cost estimation of various TransGrid option feasibility studies for future secondary systems projects. The independent cost estimates were required to justify TransGrid's investment in these projects.- Substation concept design for the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA). The project required preparing technical and tender specifications, concept design drawings (including SLD, General Arrangement, cable routes) and a capital cost estimate for a 33/11kV zone substation within the SIEA network.- Project Execution Plans / Site Safety Plans- Earthing design and hazard assessment of various Sydney Trains sites. Works involved assessing metallic objects which may impose a hazardous prospective touch, step voltage and transfer voltage under fault conditions. Software package CDEGS was used to model the site and associated earth potential rise plots.

My placement was in the section Capital Program Delivery: Transmission Line and Cable Design.During my time in this section, I worked on tasks involving:- Sag-tensions of various cables- Fault current distribution for various shield wires- Tension calculations for transmission structures- EMF studies- PLS-CADD- Microsoft Excel- Internal TransGrid software
