GSVS 3310: Sustainability Policy at Home and Abroad (Fall 2024)

- As part of the Contracting and National Security Acquisitions team, conducted a performance audit of the Department of Defense (DoD) to assess their current weapons testing & evaluation (T&E) system by: 1. Leading interviews with agency officials and conducting site visits to assess military testing procedures 2. Analyzing DoD and service-level policy documents and reporting findings 3. Effectively presenting trends and findings to senior leadership while concisely explaining audit methodology 4. Addressing Congressional stakeholder objectives in a final published report - Collaborated effectively with team members, internal, and external stakeholders to fulfill project goals- Crafted strategic recommendations for DoD to implement industry T&E best practices to improve organizational efficiency and product delivery timelines - Participated in Defense Acquisition University (DAU) training and informational courses to develop an understanding of major acquisition policies and procedures

- Assessed opportunities to implement sustainability initiatives in the University Health System, including: 1. Evaluated 'Greening the OR' opportunities by developing prioritized recommendations based on feasibility and impact, resulting in the piloting of OR setbacks and medical equipment reprocessing in the Battle Building 2. Developed Health System Sustainability Survey content that captured 150+ clinician perspectives towards sustainability initiatives, then analyzed and presented results in PowerPoint to relevant hospital personnel and compiled a written report on findings 3. Conducted walk-throughs and waste audits to develop signage recommendations that aim to improve waste management in the Central Pharmacy 4. Drafted Health System Sustainability Committee Charter to formalize governance structure and scope - Composed communications to increase stakeholder awareness, including: interviewing clinicians and Dean of the School of Medicine to write three blog posts and created website content for the Health System’s brand-new Sustainability Vision webpage - Conducted research and compiled benchmarking documents analyzing current sustainability practices of School of Medicine and School of Architecture to develop customized recommendations aligned with UVA’s 2030 Strategic Plan - Supported five sessions for over 50 professionals at 2023 ACC Sports Sustainability Conference, then analyzed post-conference survey results and presented conclusions to ACC Sports Sustainability Team

- Supervised 200+ members while overseeing the execution of 50+ university-wide events on the Executive Board, managing a University-allocated budget of $700,000+ - Led semesterly recruitment of 45+ new members through applications and interviews

- Led a team of 16 peers to plan and execute more than six events for university students, managing a budget over $30,000 - Guided team through the organization, preparation, and execution of events through brainstorming activities, contacting vendors, promoting the event to students, and day-of logistics

- Collaborated with a team of 12 students and served as Head Program Coordinator for five university events - Organized and executed events for peers and attended weekly meetings to develop meaningful creative programs

- Composed and published internal and external communications in accordance with IFC publicity standards, including public statements, media requests for comment, and social media - Created IFC-wide policies with input from other members of the executive board, university administration, and the 30 IFC chapter presidents - Facilitated open dialogue with administration and the Fraternity & Sorority Life Office
