Project manager of a team of 4 who worked towards the characterization and industrial process design of novel, pectin-based bioink. This bioink will be used to bioprint artificial organs/tissue to help supplement natural organ donation for the 113,000+ current patients in need of an organ transplant. Our goal was to create a bioink that both promotes vascularization and allows for the controlled release of bioactive molecules to allow for advancement in feasible bioprinting solutions.

I worked in the Pharmacology & Toxicology Department assisting Dr. John Imig and Dr. Abdul Khan in undergraduate research as part of MCW's SPUR program.Our lab was focused on the determining the efficacy of drugs in supporting renal health and function in mouse models. I gained valuable experience working in a solutions-focused, supportive environment that emphasized taking initiative. SPUR emphasized not only learning the practical laboratory technique, but also networking and developing the interpersonal relationships involved in a research setting.
