At FAFCO, We focus on both pool and household water heating needs and specialize in capturing solar energy, using it to heat water for both domestic and commercial applications. We have recently launched a Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT) product line known as CoolPV®. With CoolPV. We've partnered with SolarWorld (one of the industry's leading PV manufacturers) by incorporating their quality product line with our top of the line thermal collectors to deliver the world's first commercially viable PVT solution.Over the course of the year of 2015, our engineering team has worked diligently on bringing CoolPV to today's market. In order to make the product a success, we've used years of previous concept design, months of rigorous component and product level testing, new component and molding design, upgraded and built completely new production level machines to support CoolPV® and we've invested in existing and new relationships with our dealers. As FAFCO's Applications Engineer, I have the opportunity of working with our dealers, customers, manufacturing, sales and engineering teams to improve future development and support our existing product lines, but most of all, I have a work environment that I can call home!
Assistant Design Engineer
Assistant design engineer for patented laser configurations in first prototype stage. The technology offers many solutions to the limitations of today's laser treatment challenges. I was responsible for reverse engineering and redesign of laser components and handling all working drawings and Solidworks models.
Mechanical Engineering Student
Mechanical Engineering And Development Intern
By working with Autometrix, I have been able to gain experience in industry by working with Autometrix's precision-cutting tables, and working as a key contributor to the overall design process. I have taken a cutting table and modeled the forces, accelerations and variable loading that its motors see during normal operation to diagnose failure conditions and assure proper design of the existing table. I also redesigned electronics enclosures and upgraded components while working with an electrical engineer. I have been able to see some of the complications that are associated with making a design change and have worked through them successfully. Through redesign of an electronics enclosure, I utilized my skills in heat transfer by determining the cooling rate needed to keep the electronics at safe operating conditions and selecting an appropriate heat sink for the equipment. I have also utilized my skills in statics and finite element analysis to design a rolling lifter that spreads rolls of material across current cutting tables. I utilized Autodesk Inventor's simulation suite to design each carriage and lifting member while keeping geometry looking aesthetically pleasing and reducing cost.
Engineering Intern
As an engineering intern at Norfield LLC, I started out working on projects that oriented me to real world engineering projects. My first project, a reverse engineering assignment, required that I study an on site machine and create complete documentation for its design to be replicated. This included determining the manufacturing processes necessary to build it and finding updated suppliers with working parts that fit required specifications. With this information, I built complete SolidWorks® parts, drawings and the final assembly. My next assignment required me to design an automated machining platform that could be added on to any existing door processing machine. In this assignment, I studied the machines on which it needed to be used and determined a list of requirements that my design should fit so that the new design would solve the need for an automated system. This project required in depth study of automated systems, motor and driver sizing, documentation, communication with parts suppliers and dynamics design of moving X, Y and Z axis.
