I am Benjamin Panahi. I became interested in the magical world of animation, watching Disney’s masterpieces, since childhood. As I had a tremendous talent for drawing; I’d used to show my thoughts on paper. Gradually, the computer also became a means of drawing for me; so much so that in the late 90’s, Microsoft Paint was my main computer hobby. As a teenager, I became more acquainted with CGI. Gradually, I learned to work with Photoshop, 3DS Max, Premiere, Maya, After Effects, etc. Towards my late teenage years, I got a job as an apprentice in a “Computer Repairs & Services”. Shortly afterwards, I worked there as a regular employee. During that time, I had started working as a graphic artist as well. After finishing my job in the computer company, I continued working as a graphic artist, on a self-employment basis. In this new position I performed various range of tasks from brochure, flyer and book-cover designing, book illustration to label designing for food products. Meanwhile, I tried to utilize “character designing” in my works in order to make them stand out. In parallel with my favorite career, I was pursuing my studies in a university. It was an online university, which created more time available for me to gain more experience. I also worked in an architectural office for a period of time. My job there, was converting 2D AutoCAD files of buildings into 3D-versions, in order to simulate the interior and the exterior of the same buildings. During this time, I had also some studies in the field of architecture, which was very interesting and useful to me. Then, I decided to seriously enter the world of filmmaking. Thus, I did studies in the fields of screenwriting, storyboarding, photography, costume design, character design, traditional animation, 3D animation, lighting, videography, editing, color correction, and much more. I also expanded my skill-range in the field of software in relation with CGI. In order to acquire more professional experiences, I collaborated with certain independent filmmakers, with theater directors and some YouTubers. The list of my activities and cooperation included the followings: Designing storyboards, Pre-production planning, working as script supervisor, 2ND AC, Visual Effects Artist, Creating elaborate teasers for theatrical shows and for YouTube Channels. Currently, I am focusing on 3D modeling and short animations. My ultimate goal is gaining self-improvement to fulfill my childhood dreams which is “Working in Disney Animation Studios”.
