I am Benjamin, currently a Singapore Polytechnic Student in the Diploma in Infocomm Security Management. The reasons for choosing this course is because I am interested in network communications and passionate about contributing to a safer digital space for all. I am excited to embark on a career as a Cybersecurity Engineer because I am interested in creating secure and efficient network solutions which provide quicker accessibility to critical network servers and resources. During my years of study, I have competed in various Cyber Security competitions which demonstrated my skills in programming and vulnerability assessment. Also, I have utilised software of Wireshark which monitors data packets and Burp Suite that assesses the security of web applications. From my experience on Linux and Windows Server Administration, I have configured firewall rules to permit and deny access to users or computers through network ports and services of Secure Shell and Apache Web Services.My various expertise will be useful for my future career as I have prior expertise in network design to enhance the efficiency and security of the company's network infrastructure. I will ensure that Server Infrastructure Operating Systems are maintained with security baselines and monitored regularly through system and firewall logs. My experience in performing vulnerability assessments will enable the company to comply with the latest industry security standards such as Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks. In case of unauthorised intrusions or attacks, I am equipped with the procedures of incident response like escalating privileges or isolating systems. My background in Amazon Cloud will be beneficial in promoting streamlined management and optimised performance of products and core services. Through my different experiences in group projects, it has cultivated me with skills in collaboration and leadership. I am an active listener, critical thinker and open to different perspectives. In addition, I am resilient despite encountering different setbacks or challenges. Apart from that, I am adaptable to changing technological advances because I strive to stay relevant through workshops, online courses, and certifications. Therefore, I hope to connect with other Cyber Security professionals that will support my path in career success by exchanging valuable security insights.
