About Benjamin Pope

I am currently working on several related projects in astronomical time series modelling, adaptive optics, and optical interferometry at the University of Oxford. My honours research was on of kernel-phase interferometry, working with Peter Tuthill (Sydney) and Frantz Martinache (Subaru). This new technique can construct self-calibrating, closure-phase like quantities from redundant AO-corrected apertures. Using this, we are able to achieve high angular resolution, high-contrast detection of faint companions from ground- and space-based telescope data. The goal of this research is to advance instrumentation and processing with a view towards characterising low-mass stars and exoplanets.
