Electrical Project Engineer

Worked on the Gold Coast Light Rail project based on-site, managing the installation of lighting ($4.3million) for Gold Coast City Council & rail bonding ($50k) for KDR over a heavily populated, 14km rail corridor. During this project I also managed temporary lighting ($500k), temporary power ($200k) & temporary CCTV ($150k) works. Key competencies included:• Identifying Safety & Environmental impacts of works, deciding on suitable control measures & producing Job Safety & Environment Analysis documents to suit• Thinking creatively to engineer solutions for design issues raised on site• Remaining calm & collected during difficult, high pressure scenarios such as stakeholder meetings & dealing with upset members of the community• Engineering new designs & work methods to reduce costs & forecast• Balancing commercial, programme, quality, safety, environmental & community requirements• Coordinating design changes with construction team, design team, asset owners & other relevant parties• Working unsupervised & often in remote site offices• Creating verification (inspection & testing) procedures in line with relevant standards• Discussing & clarifying legal obligations with the Electrical Safety Office• Estimation, forecasting expenditure & answering for costs spent & to complete• Identifying risks & opportunities• Tracking productivity• Programming works• Creating QA procedures & check sheets• Writing work method statements & construction execution procedures• Managing procurement of materials• Working with a wide variety of people (Project Managers, TAs, Supervisors, Electricians, Sub Contractors, Construction Manager, Design Manager, Project Director, Superintendant, suppliers)• Familiarity with a variety of electrical standards including AS3000, AS3008, AS3017, AS1768, AS4836, AS3010, AS3100, AS3019 & AS4741• Arranging Point of Supply connections with electricity supplier & retailer
