Aided in research in a laboratory that focused on the proteins involved with the neuronal transport of autophagosomes. Used drosophila flies to perform genetic crosses and dissected larvae to investigate neurons. Learned complex fly genetics and cell biology related to the research. Used multiple laboratory techniques including microscopy, gel electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and western blot.

Worked at a family owned restaurant with a diverse staff and clientele. As a host I performed various tasks for the restaurant including taking reservations, managing the waiting list and seating guests. As a bartender I prepared drinks for the entire restaurant while serving customers and creating a friendly environment in the bar area. Spent a lot of time interacting with customers and other members of the staff.
