I'm Benjamin Ring, a multifaceted musician with an enriching journey shaped by world-renowned musicians and institutions. I hold degrees in Music from the University of Southern California and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA, having studied with illustrious artists like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and drumming maestros Peter Erskine and Louis Cole.Throughout my career, I've had the honor to perform globally with my own band and other internationally acclaimed artists. I am passionate about music's transformative power and have dedicated a part of my career to education. I've taught at UCLA's Summer Global Jazz Intensive, provided private instruction in LA, imparting knowledge on a range of subjects from technique to composition.My accomplishments include winning the Ravinia Steans Bridges Composition Competition in 2023, a milestone in my journey as a composer. The same year, I also produced my first studio album under the guidance of jazz maestro David Binney. Apart from my musical endeavors, I have a keen interest in technology. In testament to this, I started a tech support company, Piedmont Tech, with the primary aim to assist senior citizens with technology use and troubleshooting.As a contemporary musician, I'm well-versed in Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Sibelius, and essential digital tools such as Microsoft Office/Google Drive and Zoom. I am always interested in new opportunities, collaborations, performances, or educational endeavors in the music and tech sectors.
