Involved in all aspects of the import process, from overseeing ocean/air bookings, filing ISF, filing customs entries with classification, and arranging final mile transportation of AIR/LCL/FCL cargo. Our department oversees all import/export activities for Leviton Manufacturing, Inc., and all subsidiaries (Con-Tech Lighting, Intense Lighting, JCC Lighting) located across the US, Canada, UK and Mexico. As we conduct our business as self-filing importers, we maintain a high level of control and visibility. This level of control provides us leverage with any outside service providers we may utilize. Without having to rely on customs brokers, we were able to select partners and build relationships, working directly with their operations groups in organizing imports and exports.Also heavily involved in tracking and remitting customs duties, using tools such as US CBP's ACE portal. I have extensive experience using the portal and have a deep working understanding of the various reporting features and customizable options.Most recently, acted as a key point of contact between Leviton and US customs in claiming exclusions for over $2M in import duties that were paid since the implementation of Section 301-related tariffs.This project required going back to file post summary corrections (PSC) and protests where entries fell outside the timeline. Responsible for auditing freight and service provider invoices, ensuring accuracy and offering training to our service providers to minimize revisions or missed invoices.

Oversee worldwide movement of goods manufactured by our overseas vendors to our customers across North America, Asia, and Europe. Ensuring that proper documentation is drafted and presented when moving goods across country borders as needed.Worked with a variety of freight forwarders to compare and document the most cost effective modes of transportation that worked in harmony with our planning forecasts.Negotiated contracted rates with various forwarders, using shipment volume and KPI data to reach agreements that are reflected in cost savings for our logistics budget.

I worked closely with suppliers in putting together proper documentation for ISF and shipment bookings. Also coordinated with US customs agents in classifying and clearing goods for import using proper HTS code labeling for import duties and taxes.Once goods are brought in to the country, I work with both retailers and transportation companies to delivery goods to their proper distribution hubs or 3PL warehouses.
