I am currently the Lead Engine Test Bench Mechanic working for an exciting new company called Isar Aerospace. We are developing, manufacturing and testing a state-of-the-art rocket engine which is planned to reach orbit by the end of 2023. My responsibilities involve mechanical maintenance and development of both the engine test facility infrastructure as well as installation of engine components themselves. I am responsible for pressurized leak checking, troubleshooting mechanical/fluid non-conformances and developing a documentation process for traceability purposes on the engine. I am also rigging the facility for testing operations, manfacturing tubes for fluid connections (cutting, bending, swaging, cleaning), building supports for various components and maintaining LOX clean room/ safe workshop practices. I work directly alongside a dynamic team of engineers who are all driven to succeed. I was employed by BombardierAerospace, participating on a production modline of a brand new business jet, the Global 7500. Working alongside engineers, logistical agents, supervisors and other production staff towards completing the first several acceptance tested releases of the highest caliber luxury aircraft in the world, all while overcoming any inconsistencies between design and implementation.I was then employed by a defense contractor called Top Aces who is contracted by the Royal Canadian Airforce to provide adversary air for training new fighter pilots. We were primarily maintaining a fleet of Dornier-Dassault Alpha Fighter Jets in a line maintenance environment on a military airbase. Meticulous daily inspections of both aircraft systems and ejection seats were a crucial part of this role, as well as troubleshooting and rectifying snags, launching and receiving the aircraft after missions, and loading military class training armament. As crew chief I was responsible for leading a team of mechanics in various locations away from base all across North America doing what it took to keep jets arriving on time for missions. Here, I developed situational awareness and was part of a world-class team of professional mechanics.
