(German Version below) Benjamin Rost studied directing film at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and graduated 2020. Before he studied Philosophy in Munich. His films were screened at various international festivals like Dok Leipzig, Dok.Fest München, Camerimage and many more. He is part of the scholarship program of the ‘Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes’ as well as the ‘Young Art and New Paths’ scholarship from the State of Bavaria 2022. Between 2017 and 2019 he lived in Rwanda and South Africa to support the launch of the Youth Television Channel 'Iwacu' for the German Development Organisation (GIZ) and to shoot his graduation film ‘A Portrait on the Search for Happiness’ supported by SWR and MfG, which is now available on Amazon Prime. With his Debutfilm ‘Harraga - those who burn their lives’ he participated at Documentary Campus. He is also member of the Arab Cultures and Arts Network ACAN. Furthermore he gave workshops for the Goethe Institute, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, FreeSZFE Budapest among others. In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut, he has launched two mentoring programs, e.g. Pitch_It@Berlinale and the animated film workshop FILM IT for refugee children from Ukraine.Benjamin Rost studierte Filmregie an der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg und machte 2020 seinen Abschluss. Zuvor studierte er Philosophie in München. Seine Filme wurden auf verschiedenen internationalen Festivals wie DokLeipzig, Dok.Fest München, Camerimage und vielen mehr gezeigt. Er ist Teil des Stipendienprogramms der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes sowie des Stipendiums „Junge Kunst und neue Wege“ des Freistaats Bayern 2022. Zwischen 2017 und 2019 lebte er in Ruanda und Südafrika, um den Start des Jugendfernsehsenders Iwacu der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) zu unterstützen und seinen von SWR und MfG geförderten Abschlussfilm A Portrait on the Search for Happiness zu drehen, der nun auf Amazon Prime verfügbar ist. Mit seinem Debütfilm Harraga - those who burn their lives nahm er am Documentary Campus teil. Er ist auch Mitglied des Arab Cultures and Arts Network ACAN. Darüber hinaus gab er Workshops u.a. für das Goethe-Institut, die Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg und FreeSZFE Budapest. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Goethe-Institut hat er zwei Mentoring-Programme ins Leben gerufen, z.B. Pitch_It@Berlinale und den Zeichentrick-Filmworkshop FILM IT für geflüchtete Kinder aus der Ukraine.
