My primary focus has since moved further away from test development, although I still maintain and develop tests in some cases. During the last stretch of my apprenticeship I started a bigger update of our in-house developed software that we use for the majority of our automatic tests. This involved making the tool itself into a Gem, as well as interfaces that was previously bundled with it into independent gems.My role since I started full-time has primarily been developing and maintaining this software and other automation tools used along with it.Focus areas regarding this has been refactoring most of the codebase to make it more scalable and easier to maintain. Also making it easier to release new versions using GitLab pipelines, and catch potential errors during development. During this time I have learned a lot about how to modularization in software development, to segment parts of the codebase and make it more independent of one another.Other roles include helping maintain and develop new physical test setups, that we can utilize to test our products effectively.
