Benjamin Sim is a Senior Associate within KPMG's Deal Advisory's team in Malaysia, with demonstrated experience in financial/commercial due diligence, working capital advisory and strategic financial analysis. His experience ranges across health, major infrastructure, insurance, telecommunications, commercial, education and key government departments.Ben is primarily involved with Mergers and Acquisitions, assisting with the conventional, operational and strategic financial reviews of his client's targeted entities. He has provided financial appraisals designed on identifying growth opportunities and risks in both a pre and post deal setting. He undertook a year's secondment to KPMG's audit department in Sarawak, East Malaysia. During this time, he was exposed to various accounting methodologies and external audit practices. Prior to joining KPMG, Benjamin was in the Finance and Procurement team of a local development firm. In this role he provided advice on financial structuring of projects, facilitating understanding of a project's budget at a granular level. His role was essential in preventing liquidity issues and maintaining ideal organisation-wide debt structures.Ben graduated from the University of Melbourne with first class honours in the Bachelors of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance. Ben was one of the few selected students chosen as a delegate to represent the university to various firms around Europe to engage in discussions pertaining to revenue recognition and management accounting practices. Ben plays basketball semi-professionally during the time he's not at work for local clubs and teams. He is currently engaged with the Westport Malaysia Dragons (PG) and regularly joins state and national tournaments.
