The Wagon Fatigue Project aims to apply four separate modifications to over 5500 coal wagons in QLD over a 5 year time period.My position as manager of this program encompasses many facets of project management. Duties include:- Organisation of logistics- Implementation and development of procedural changes both in the modifications themselves and logistics- Day to day tracking of progress- Monthly reporting of progress and issues affecting the program- Management of internal and external factors affecting the program

In this position I undertake work on a range of projects relating to locomotive procurement, technical investigations, modifications and design. Experience and skills gained: Work with the locomotive team on mechanical engineering projects through designing, planning and estimating Preparation of documents relevant to mechanical engineering projects and locomotive procurement Structuring and preparation of programs and budgets for locomotive projects Monitoring and control of resources relevant to locomotive projects Conduct technical investigations on locomotive issues in a cost effective manner, and provide recommendations based on acquired results FEA, 3D CAD and mechanical drafting on NX

Whilst working in this position I provided technical support for Network Services with a focus on construction machinery. Experience and skills gained: Technical analysis of structures to AS4100 Specification and analysis of structural welds  Use of Pro Engineer for 3D CAD and FEA Project management Generation and execution of project plans Generation of Risk Analysis’s Rollingstock registration process Verification of complex technical engineering drawings

Experience and skills gained: Generation of 3D models for quotation and manufacturing from 2D drawings and basic concepts Preparation of 2D drawings for general manufacture and laser profile cutting General manufacturing methods, their limitations and advantages and how they apply to design Specifically gained knowledge in how to design components so that they can be efficiently and effectively manufactured Practical experience on the workshop floor Practical knowledge in the application of CNC machines e.g. laser cutter, lathe, machining centre, brake press, robotic welder
