Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry. Duties include training residents, social workers and psychologists on inpatient behavioral health and medical units at Elmhurst Hospital.

Founding director and managing physician for the inpatient addiction consult service at Elmhurst Hospital. Implementing medication assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders in the inpatient medical setting. Improving quality of care in treatment of withdrawal and substance use disorders.

Role included collaborating with residents and department administration to lead and continually refine a highly respected residency program that operates across four large public and private clinical institutions in New York City. Primary functions included facilitating feedback from faculty and residents, implementing program changes, organizing clinical coverage and managing new resident recruitment.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating hospitalized and emergency room patients in private (NYU Hospital), public/city funded (Bellevue Hospital) and federal (Manhattan VA) settings. Completed PGY1 rotations in Internal Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry, Psychiatry Representative for House Staff Leadership Committee, Call Committee

Completed a case-control study by reviewing and analyzing patient chart data, environmental samples and staff practices for an epidemiology field investigation determining the source and transmission route of an infectious outbreak in a healthcare setting

Received grant from NIH/NIDDK to study tuberculosis as a medical student, established a new tool for the study of mycobacteria by genetically engineering a new cell line

Worked with a team to produce the Global Status Report on Alcohol 2009 using data collected from ministries of health, independently developed a uniform quantitative indicator for revenue lost due to untaxed and/or illegal alcohol consumption
