About Benjamin Stringer

I am an experienced Civils professional, with a background in the resources sector, and heavy industry, my skill-set extends across manufacturing, civil engineering and government approvals.During my time as Superintendent Civil Infrastructure at Rio Tinto, I was responsible for maintenance of a vast road and rail network across The Pilbara. My success early in the role saw my mandate increase year-on-year, taking on preventative maintenance and management for all civil infrastructure across the region. This period included a 6-month term as Acting Manager for the Division. When I left Rio in 2015, I took a short career break, working in frontline roles before redeveloping my practice in the manufacturing sector as a Senior Technician at a Bitumen plant, which broadened my experience from bulk resource extraction to other areas of the value stream. In addition to roles with an operational leadership focus, I began my career working in Aboriginal heritage coordination for mining concerns, liaising with local communities and negotiating contractual terms compliant with Native Title legislation. This experience meant that when I moved into my Superintendent roles, I was able to form many initiatives to increase the number of contracts with local Aboriginal corporations or JVs and build Indigenous training programs into human resources practice. This approach not only created high-performing and loyal business units but served to optimise key relationships with local stakeholder groups. I have also used my skill-set in the role of Civil Supervisor, ensuring that Civil maintenance road remediation works are scoped and executed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner at CBH bulk grain receival site across the Wheatbelt of WA.Most recently I worked on a Rio Tinto site again as a Civil Supervisor for the Major Projects rail renewals team which involved supervision of Civil rail renewal works along the rail corridor in the Pilbara.
