Italy, The United States, France, And The United Arab Emirates

As a full-time reporter on retainer with The Economist, the London-based international publication, I research and write articles on defense, intelligence, geopolitics, business, technology, the United States and Europe. The work has involved conceiving of, editing, and co-writing “Modern Warfare, Intelligence and Deterrence,” an Economist book on conflict, weaponry and intelligence. It has been published in five editions, including a Chinese translation by Xinhua, China’s state media giant.

As a part-time adjunct lecturer to graduate and undergraduate students, I teach the geopolitics of international business and corporate communications, including crafting narrative structure, at H-Farm College/University of Chichester (Venice, Italy). I also occasionally deliver Smithsonian lecture series on geopolitics. Universities where I have also taught include HEC-Paris, the Paris School of Business, and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management.

I occasionally conduct research projects for writers and businesses.

Paris, France

Senior editor and head of research: COLORS magazine, Paris (offices in Italy from 1997). Supervised five staff journalists and 40 foreign correspondents, conducted meetings, assessed story ideas, led demanding research, wrote and edited copy, and reviewed French and Spanish translations for six annual issues sold in 60 countries in eight languages.
