Assisted in the creation of new transgenic mouse strains to test animal models of Parkinson's Disease using current molecular biology techniques including: PCR, Restriction Digests, DNA extraction and purification, Western and Southern Blots, cell culture, Mini-, Midi-, and Maxi-Preps, Histology, and data compilation. Successfully established training programs for new employees ranging from interns to post doctoral students; using hands on approach to teach proper techniques, safety, data entry and team work. Requested by associate labs to perform surgeries delivering highly effective samples for experimental use. Managed a medical supply budget of over $12,000 per year; ordering research inventory for 2 labs including animal care, experimentation, and documentation through vendors and government contractors.
