Benjamin Aaron Valimont grew up in the Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from The DuBois Area High School in 2002. He then attended The University of Pittsburgh’s Main Campus. He was a Triple Major in History, Philosophy, and Political Science with a minor in German Studies. He graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts. Benjamin earned his Juris Doctor degree from The Duquesne University School of Law in 2009. During law school, he attended Duquesne Law School's Summer Study of Law in Beijing, China. Benjamin also participated in an Urban Development Clinic where he wrote Bench Memoranda for Pending Land Use Appeals, and wrote draft City Code Revisions for encouraging Greenroofs & creating the Sustainability Commission. This gave Benjamin experience a deep understanding of local governments.After Law School, Benjamin found work as an attorney abstractor. His primary task is to ascertain who owns the mineral interests and leasehold rights underlying parcels of real estate. Whenever a reservation of the mineral rights is found, research must then be conducted to determine who currently owns those rights. This has given Benjamin a wealth of experience with complex real estate and energy contracts. Because his expertise is highly regarded, he has also been tasked with reviewing his colleagues’ work. Benjamin currently works at Back Roads Energy, Inc.Benjamin is also an advocate for election reform. He aims to see non-partisan, final-five primaries as well as Ranked Choice (Instant Runoff) Voting adopted in Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the country. In this endeavor, he volunteers with the Pennsylvania Forward Party where he serves as the interim Secretary.
