About Benjamin Van Dyke, Phd
I have a PhD in clinical psychology with a concentration in health psychology and a graduate studies minor in statistics and quantitative psychology from the University of Alabama.My research interests focus on better understanding the relationships among pain and social/interpersonal variables, such as social support, relationship quality, communication, rejection, and discrimination, especially among emerging adults and minority populations, such as people who identify as LGBTQIA+. I have worked extensively on the Learning About My Pain (LAMP) study, a PCORI-funded comparative effectiveness trial of literacy-adapted group cognitive-behavioral therapy for pain vs. group pain psychoeducation vs. usual medical care (PI: Beverly Thorn; PCORI contract #941; clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT01967342). I am currently collaborating with Dr. Thorn and other members of the LAMP research team to analyze data from the trial and publish our findings.
