I analyzed client’s piping system drawings for thermal movement and designed solutions to accommodate movement in 14 different projects across the US and Europe. As a project over the course of my internship, I developed spreadsheet-based tools to calculate sizes and specifications for 4 different methods of accommodating both thermal pipe movement and seismic building movement, covering all possible variations of piping and company products. I also developed a browser-based web application to calculate the size of an expansion loop based on values input by a sales associate or directly by the client.

I assisted with the design and documentation of a variety of spinal implants as well as surgical instrumentation for them, with a focus on spinal fusion systems. This included group brainstorming, prototyping with extensive use of 3D printing, and use of SolidWorks for both 3D modeling and creation of technical drawings. I also gained experience with utilizing FEA in the SolidWorks simulation environment to test, analyze, and further develop implant designs.

I worked with a small team of students to create virtual drawings and models of the performance hall, stage setups, and equipment in order to facilitate more efficient set up of the facility for events. The end goal of the project is to create a virtual/augmented reality environment and system through which clients can visualize and interact with their event setups.

As the CAD lead, I oversaw the mechanical design of the team's 120lb competition robot over the six-week build season. Additionally, I led scouting at competition events and assisted in fabrication and game analysis as a build team member. This position gave me extensive training in CAD (Autodesk Inventor), machining and hand tools, including CNC milling, and experience with problem solving, testing, fabrication, wiring, systems integration, teamwork, and leadership.
