About Benjamin White

I am a dedicated education professional with a rich background in research across diverse laboratory settings, including social, cognitive, and neuroscience labs. With a strong commitment to teaching, I specialize in a broad spectrum of psychology courses, infusing study skills and personal wellness into my curriculum to enhance student success.Over my 15-year career, I have honed my expertise in teaching and instructional design across various institutions, including 2-year, 4-year public, and private settings. I am a frequent contributor and member of the online learning community at the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation at UTK. I have been developing and teaching teaching asynchronous and remote courses since 2016 and have a strong focus on building a strong digital community within my teaching and learning communities. My asynchronous courses have passed QM and institutional standards, but that is only part of the equation, content is important but I think that creating a sense of belonging and connection to the class, material, and to others is also a factor in my students' success in these courses. My passion lies in crafting engaging courses that foster critical thinking, encourage the practical application of material to students' lives, and cultivate a vibrant learning community. Adept at designing research-based content, I focus on cultivating my students' academic skills from evidence-based research practices.Currently, I serve as an early career mentor for STP, providing guidance and resources to instructors new to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, my active involvement with the Psychology ONE conference as a committee member since 2018 showcases my commitment to program planning and coordination, contributing to the success of the conference.I am dedicated to advancing the field of education and facilitating faculty growth by sharing research-based insights. My goal is to continue serving as a catalyst for positive change in teaching methodologies, ultimately contributing to both student and faculty success.
