Hello, My name is Benjamin Winford. I am an overzealous and hardworking individual who is trying to carve their own way in new expanding and neccesential fields. Currently I am searching for a career path in IT with the aid of Merit America, learning important technical skills involving computer networking, Systems Administration, IT Security, etc. While at the same time I work as a full time caregiver, taking care of individuals with disabilities or needs that don't allow them to properly take care of themselves. I really enjoy this line of work as it gives me a chance to use my already developed people skills in a different light. I'm able to learn new and interesting things about the people I'm caring for and about their “disabilities”. Learning new ways to address complicated issues and new strategies of helping people with a lot of complex emotions with no real way or skills to deal with them. I love my current line of work, but I don't really see a career path in it, at the very least not for me. I've gathered up a lot of customer service experience since I have stepped into the workforce. In the beginning I started off working at McDonalds in High School, and when I turned 19 I was promoted to manager. I learned a lot of useful customer service skills in that role, valuable experience that I truly don't think I would've gotten anywhere else. Due to situations where customers were unhappy with their service, dealing with dramatic workplace situations where I am the one in charge, or situations where i wasn't sure if i was doing things the way they should be done; I learned effective de-escalation skills, flexible time management, practised and became an expert at leadership, complex problem solving skills, the list can go on and on. Though, while I appreciated my time working there and the skills I cultivated from my work experience, there came a point where I realised I could go no further. No matter how much determination, how much drive, or how much effort I put into my job it seemed to be taken for granted and even in some cases, taken advantage of. My main focus now is to find a career where I can work hard, set goals, go above and beyond other people's expectations and hopefully surpass mine as well; with the ultimate goal of creating a new, prosperous, and fulfilling career for myself.
