Senior Software Engineer
CurrentBackend Software Engineer designs, develops, and implements complex conversion processes, providing data and content transformation services and solutions. Manages full-cycle development of automated software to convert structured and unstructured data to an XML/DITA schema. Develops specialized scripts for extracting, transforming, and loading data in its ultimate destination.• Ultimate responsibility to handle projects from beginning to end and have full control over all decisions to finalize the software as a product. Onboarded engineers, integrating them into the team and providing technical and language support.• Defined and implemented data conversion plans to fit the project requirements.• Collaboratively updated security policies and procedures to comply with ISO 27001 requirements.• Provided end-to-end testing and iteratively refined based on feedback. Tested processes and procedures, new system data, business rules, technology, etc. Designed, developed, and implemented QC software to validate converted content.Worked on a number of projects as the Sole Software Engineer or Lead Software Engineer, collaborating with others on designing and implementing quality solutions that drove new business.• Quickly designed a unique solution to increase processing capacity to meet an immovable deadline for a large project and important client. Set up a distributed computing network using unused processing power from others in our office for the extra bump needed for on-time delivery.• Lead Software Engineer for the conversion of all published content from Duke University Press dating back from its origins and in a wide variety of formats. The successful project resulted in additional business.• When a project turned out to be far more complex than billed, I faced the challenges head-on, redoubling my efforts to manage deliverables to meet deadlines.
