Head of Uber's corporate tools engineering organization as CIO staff. Uber’s CIO reported to the CTO. Overarching mandate was to magnify employee productivity and resolve our most difficult problems at the intersection of corporate operations and technology.Launched Uber’s global enterprise engineering functions to design, develop and operate mission critical employee and engineering platforms. In most cases, this included function inception and hiring or staffing of org employee #1. At pre-COVID peak (2019), managed five engineering organizations totaling 60+ staff in India, the Americas and US.Launched Uber’s India-based corporate engineering function.Key internal platforms built: Employee Onboarding and Provisioning, Employee Directory (‘Whober’), Employee Chat, Talent Acquisition, Federated Enterprise Search, Corporate BI, and Integration as a Service. Developed Uber’s market facing application consumer feedback system, ‘uRate,’ used by Uber Eats merchant application (in addition to most other internal tools).

Head of IDEO tools engineering as CTO staff. Won new business, developed IDEO digital consulting practice leadership and modernized software development company wide. Created global engineering team to build internal products, including IDEO's intranet, time tracking, content management and integration platforms.

Drove 2x per quarter revenue growth for Employee Spaces™, placing in the 2011 Gartner Magic Quadrant. Created product roadmap and executed strategy in partnership with engineering, sales, and strategic marketing groups. Revived previously failing relationship with business partner, IDEO, to revive go-to-market strategy and redesign our flagship product.

Led engineering and agile transformation for large US intelligence agency contract to develop biometrics collection products. Moved prime contractor status from threatened termination to a 95% score and $90M contract extension. Modernized software configuration management, implemented continuous integration, introduced server virtualization with successful deployment of critical new revisions to multiple global sites.

Led a small team of senior engineers to design and develop intelliPrints™, Near Infinity's commercial auditing and business intelligence product. Helped develop intelliPrints business opportunities while also consulting as a designer and developer of Java and Ruby applications.

Designed and developed webMethods’ Java-based, server and UI commercial product in order to integrate software systems. Designed and developed a common product auditing library and wrote product internationalization guidelines. In office of CTO, performed R&D for future integration approaches and conducted technical evaluations leading to three successful acquisitions.

Sub-system lead, designer, and developer on TRAC2ES, a large DoD contract to create and maintain a global military patient movement and tracking system. Created Java UI components and XML processing modules for a thick client application that tracked the movement and status of casualties from front lines to destination medical treatment facilities. Solution was a low-bandwidth XML-database application that edited, stored and forwarded patient movement records.

Led Marines and provided technical support for globally deployed US Marine units, including presidential helicopter squadron, HMX-1. Contributed as local area network engineer, meteorological electronics technician and Windows NT system administrator. As part of forward-deployed weather forecasting and ground electronics units, deployed, operated, and repaired meteorological systems, air traffic control radios, networks, and satellite-communications gear.
