Plans, Manages, Directs, and Develops all aspects of the Manufacturing Engineering Group; New Process Development (In sourcing Strategic Processes / Capital Projects), Process Validations (IQ, OQ & PQ), Packaging Optimization and Operational Excellence (Lean / Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement).

Responsible for all Manufacturing Operations; Quality Systems, Manufacturing, Sterilization - “ETO”, Packaging Areas, Facilities, Engineering, Process Excellence, Supply Chain, Human Resources, EHS, Information Technologies and Finance areas. Provides short and long term objectives for the facility, Policy Deployment, and executes to those objectives, Goal Deployment Matrix & 5 year Facility Strategy - Roadmap; Parts Cleaning Elimination, Incoming Inspection Elimination, Mfg Cells Optimization, Sterilization & Packaging Areas Optimization. Provides guidance and leadership to all plant personnel. Supervises, motivates and directs employees to obtain optimal productivity. Ensures effective staffing, training, development of the organization as well as develops succession plans for future growth and stability. Responds to production problems and pursues, implements remedies to such problems, Lean Sigma Continues Improvement Strategy. Develops, manages and tracks operational metrics for the plant, Key Performance Indicators. Responsible for overseeing Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure compliance. Ensures adherence and compliance with all company policies, procedures and practices of all plant personnel. Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction, Global Voices, Organizational Development Assessment & Corporate Social Responsibility. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of finished goods, work in process and raw materials. Ensures new product introductions (MRI Safe Technology) are supported and executed to the established project plans. Assumes responsibility for costs, cost saving initiatives, methods, and budgets. Works with Corporate departments to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Develop, deploy and implement Process Excellence Continuous Improvement Strategies through Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certifications for Carolina and Guayama Sites. Lead and coach Project Management Staff and Business Unit Leaders in the prioritization process, value stream analysis, visual management and standard work (6S, DMAIC, Kaizen Events, and Gemba Walks) to sustain a continuous improvement culture. Prepare and present Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to facilities leader and identify/recommend/develop strategies for improvements as applicable.

Direct a Heat Seal Plant manufacturing operations of 600 employees in order to comply with production, quality, safety, and excellence business requirements. Support Technical Services operation for new product transfer, maintenance and project engineering to solve manufacturing equipment situations. Design and implement a Visual Management System for facilities in order to monitor KPI trends, and identify manufacturing opportunities thru the implementation of Kaizen events. Maintain open communication and healthy employee relation’s culture. Ensure regulatory compliance of plant specifications, procedures, BOM’s and blueprints, with federal and local regulatory agencies and standards. Interface with Latin America, US and Europe colleagues.

Coordinated, planned, executed, and lead the “INTERCEPT” – Fresh Frozen Plasma program using various engineering techniques and tools (“Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, and Design/Control”) assuring the proper utilization of the facility, machinery and manpower. Participated in the preparation of the Forecast and control of the production Budget for the “INTERCEPT” program. Provided support to manufacturing R&D through direction of product and process validation, Master Validation Plan, IQ, OQ, and PQ. Interface with other Baxter plants (Round Lake - Illinois, Mountain Home - Arkansas, North Cove – North Carolina, Germany, Lessines - Belgium, LaChatre - France, San German – Puerto Rico, Aibonito – Puerto Rico, Cuernavaca - Mexico and Dominican Republic) and Divisional groups when required. Initiated, followed up, and completed required documentation changes as specifications and SOP’s associated with the “INTERCEPT” manufacturing process changed. Responsible for the “INTERCEPT” – Fresh Frozen Plasma program, development and implementation (“new processes, sterilization, packaging areas and technologies”) in order to optimize and improve QUALITY and performance. Developed, recommended, and implemented new methods and procedures for the reduction of product cost, scrap, overtime, and cost of related services.
