Left Behind - Nanjing, China - This film followed a Davis Peace project building a mentorship program for Left Behind Children - a generation of kids, 61 million, growing up without their parents due to effects of urbanization.Humanitaria - La Carpio, Costa Rica - The story of Gisel - a women who has sent the last 40 years working with Nicaraguan and El Salvadorian refugees in the slums of San Jose, building sustainable development and community.La Gente de la Tierra - Peru - The stories and lives of the indigenous people of Peru - from the Yagua, Aymara, and Shipibo in the remote Amazonian jungle, to the Quechua in the Andean mountains, to the Urus of the floating villages, to the highest city in the world - we explored the connection of the people to the natural world and the wisdom they have from their way of life.

Working with a portfolio and strategy team at Global Good, a Gates Foundation partner development lab with a suite of technologies for food and water security in sub-Saharan Africa, I created a geospatial irrigation suitability model for smallholders in Africa, and wrote literature reviews on remote sensing in water sustainability and agricultural toxin management.Global Good is a collaborative effort between Bill Gates and Intellectual Ventures to tackle some of humanity’s toughest problems through invention. Global Good’s charter is to solve challenging problems facing the developing world by using invention, product development, and business development techniques. Global Good works very closely with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and commercial partners to target, conceive, develop and deploy inventions that improve and save lives.

Worked with a team at PATH on their diagnostic kit for G6PD deficiency, a genetic disorder essential to identify for the treatment of plasmodium vivax malaria. I worked with the team to design the diagnostic kit, solving several technical challenges related to effective kit design, minimizing spatial constraints, and doing user research to optimize the user experience.

Developed a smart motion-sensing camera for conservation research and management in partnership with Microsoft AI for Earth at the Global Innovation Exchange. The Diversita camera integrates machine learning on the edge, network connectivity, and intelligent cloud services to allow a real-time window into the lives of animals. It can classify images of over 5000 species onboard the device, and then remotely transmits these labeled photos - to enable efficient, near-real time methods of conservation research and management. Our conversations with ecologists, conservationists, and wildlife researchers revealed several use cases for this technology such as protected area management, genetic sampling, invasive species removal, or even the study of changing icebergs or forests.
