ITN is one of the world's largest independent television companies. I worked on a corporate restructure project around the evolution of the digital media market.

Originally under the column title "Diary of a Dot.com millionaire aged 22 1/4", I wrote for The Times/ The Times Online for 2 years on everything related to e-Business. The column began when I was still a dot.com millionaire, hence the title and ended when I became a full time journalist at Channel 4 News.The column among other things chronicled the rise of Google, from just a search engine to the company that would go on to define the web until the arrival of Facebook. It also charted the emergence of "user generated content", "social networking" and "web 2.0".

A dot.com darling for a couple of years, CyberBritain even had it's own "fly on the wall documentary" shown on the BBC. CyberBritain did so many things that I sometimes forget what I did from day to day. It launched a UK specific search engine powered by its own technology, Hermia in 1999. Eventually it would power the search for around 100 internet service providers monetised through pay for placement advertisements.We tried and failed to launch a service not unlike Spotify in 2000. Unfortunately, most record labels wouldn't license us the music and internet connections were too slow.Over the years, the company sold its search assets and reformed as a data marketing company before eventually selling all its assets off in 2005.

Britain's first online social network before the term was invented. This was online communities 1.0! JewishNet once made me worth £5m and earned me a place in the Sunday Times Rich List. During 1999, it grew from a desk in my bedroom to gaining a team of 15 working to create a revamped website, soJewish and then merging with a newspaper, the Jewish News.
