N-RAS is an oncogene frequently found mutated in certain leukemias. Our work demonstrated that post-translational palmitoylation of nascent N-RAS proteins is essential for leukemogenesis. This suggests that the RAS palmitoylation machinery may hold promise as a therapeutic target in cancers driven by palmitoylated RAS isoforms. -
