About Benjamin Fricks, Jr.

I love my life - being a special education teacher is more then a job - more then a career - I consider it a part of my life - I am currently in my seventh year as a Special Education Teacher in the Waterbury, CT Public School system. I work at Kennedy High School, teaching Resource Science, and Study Skills. More then that, I teach my students various life skills - anything from how to act properly in school and public places, to how to pursue your dreams, respect yourself and others, and how to be a responsible adult.Prior to teaching, I worked as a teacher's aid and driver for ACES. I worked in a collaborative program between ACES and West Haven High School in West Haven, CT. I started in January 2015 and found my calling. Within six months, I enrolled in the Special Education department at Southern Connecticut State University and started to pursue my Teaching Certification in Special Education K through 12. Teaching is a second career path for me. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing. I proceeded to work in banking, mostly processing residential and commercial mortgages. I also worked in various accounting positions from Accounts Payable Consultants to Bookkeeping.In Teaching, I have discovered where I want to be and where I need to be.
