I am a writer, filmmaker and visual artist. My love for filmmaking has led me to pursue my MFA in documentary film at CUNY City College, completing what I began at CUNY Hunter, where I studied narrative film production. I aim to explore the difference between fiction and non-fiction in the fall.I currently work with School Professionals, an educational staffing service, as a substitute teacher. I visit k-12 schools across the five boroughs and create lesson plans when they don’t exist. I learned most of what I know about teaching through elementary and middle school, but practiced most of my trade at VOICE Charter School in Long Island City as a Lower Elementary Teacher. I worked there for five years. I got my start in education through Community-Word Project, an arts education organization centering around poetry. Through Community-Word’s Teaching Artist Training and Fellowship Program, I was able to intern at P.S 279 Captain Manuel Rivera School in the Bronx, NY, assisting a co-pair of teaching artists with fifth grade classes. We taught them about poetry and speaking truth. This was during the 2018-2019 school year. In March of 2019, I began full time teaching as a second grade classroom assistant at VOICE, rising through the ranks, serving as the art coordinator and a first grade general education lead classroom teacher in my fifth and final year. I also spent two lovely years teaching kindergarten.I’m returning to education, once again as a scholar and journalist. A proud alum of Xavier High School in Manhattan, NY, I choose to continue in the tradition of great learners before me. At Xavier, I learned many things, but none more important than being a man for others. To serve, is to live a life of meaning.I am available for freelance photo and video services. I take portraits and headshots.
