The insights team which I was a part of was responsible for developing and maintaining an Operations Datawarehouse which would provide unified reporting for these various applications in a common and consistent way.During this time my key contributions were:• Gathering requirements for new reports, ETLs and processes, typically assisting the business in determining exactly what it is they need to achieve. Often this would be challenging as it would involve customers looking for us to implement a solution they believe they already have arrived at, and often the difficult task would be diplomatically helping them work through their objectives to arrive at a different set of requirements. • As technical team lead, it was my responsibility to ensure that all developers had the support they need to perform their job. All development was being performed by offshore partners in India, which provided additional barriers of needing to work largely via phone and email, understanding cultural differences and working in offset time zones. I believe I had a very strong rapport with all team members and have helped them develop into better programmers. • Designed an ETL Framework using BIML. This framework served to significantly reduce time to build and ensured all development was standardised. Cost of maintenance also massively reduced due to standardisation of packages and bugfixes were easily rolled out to all affected modules. Show less

Source data is loaded via customised interfaces developed in SQL server and automated on a schedule, and outbound interfacesexport data into other systems in a similar manner.During this time, my key contributions were:• Fulfilled the role of implementing Blueshift’s core product for new customers. This involved both solutioning and engineering technical design to fulfil the project’s requirements, as well asleading the technical aspects of ETL development importing and exporting data to third party systems. This ETL development was typically constructed using stored procedures utilising linkedservers or BCP to import flat files, and at times included the use of SSIS. During my time at Blueshift I was involved in a total of 10 implementations.• Developed a framework of stored procedures to both streamline the effort required for the implementations described above and improve reliability and maintainability. This framework handledcommon tasks of loading data from flat files, excel, caching and archiving source data and various other common tasks.• Implemented a Continuous Integration strategy using Cruise Control and later Jenkins which took any changes committed to the SVN repository and deployed these to a test environment. Unittests were then executed and results sent to contributors in the case of deployment or test failure. The deployments included both java and database artifacts. Show less
