A central project at the Grid Computing Competence Center (GC3) is the development of GC3Pie (http://code.google.com/p/gc3pie/), a Python framework to aid in submitting and controlling batch jobs on clusters and grid resources seamlessly. During my PhD research I made use of this library to perform a large number of pre-specified simulations in parallel. In many cases, however, it is interesting to pick out a specific simulation according to a rule. After completing my thesis, I joined GC3 to automate this process by incorporating an optimization routine into the library. The simulations to be run are picked automatically by an optimization algorithm. Users can now conveniently minimize some target criteria, running all underlying function evaluations in parallel on a specified grid resource.
