As one of almost 180 transit drivers, I help transport 10,000+ passengers around UCD and the City of Davis daily. Trained to drive on any of Unitrans' 19 regular bus lines and other specialty lines, I act as a flexible aspect of service.

After obtaining my DMV Class B license, I progressed to route training. As a route trainee, I acted as an in-service driver guided by 1-2 route trainers during each shift. Given that I was in-service, I was held to the same standards that solo drivers were accountable to. All the while, my route trainers quizzed me on Unitrans policy and relevant laws. After only 4 weeks of route training, I was tested on my policy knowledge and released into solo service.

As a driver trainee, I was responsible for knowing Unitrans policy, each of the 19 routes, 150+ timed stops, relevant laws (ADA, etc.), and be able to safely, comfortably, and efficiently drive 40-foot buses. At this first phase of training, I studied 5+ hours per week to prepare for the Class B DMV driving test.

During our entrepreneurship case competition, my team was tasked with building out a fresh business idea, creating a presentation to summarize our research and plan, and introducing our startup to a panel of judges. Team 6 was fortunate enough to make it through a preliminary round of competition and compete in finals, and received 3rd place out of 14 teams overall.
