I am an electrical and computer engineer, a lawyer, and an MBA. I work in the technology and semiconductor fields. I counsel business leaders and employees on a wide range of IP, commercial, agreement, licensing, M&A, government affairs, export control, and litigation issues. As leader of the IP legal function my responsibilities include managing global Intellectual Property matters including portfolio management, IP strategy, freedom to operate, litigation, investigations, patents, trademarks, trade secret protection, confidentiality/NDAs, licensing, open source, and copyright. I manage the government affairs function of the business including advising on government policy, regulations, and statutes, the CHIPS Act, and export control compliance. I manage the export control function of the business and provide advice on export controls. I have experience with:• Taking on legal matters beyond IP• Leading teams of people internally and managing outside vendors including law firms• Reducing outside legal spend between 10-15% without reducing quality of work or service• Working cooperatively with other divisions/departments to achieve sustainable business results• Work closely with internal C-suite partners to provide clear, timely, and effective legal advice• Integrating M&A acquisitions and improving IP service levels, processes, and IP policies• Improving legal systems and running projects to integrate legal systems and load legacy data• Supporting CTO and M&A team in acquisition strategies, venture investments, and university research programs• Leverage IP through creative licensing models to increase margin and reduce future margin erosion•
