With each opportunity I have, I have learned something new about who I am and what I am passionate about. The world is a unique place and I greatly value the opportunities to connect with others and share my passions, learnings, and knowledge.Service work abroad taught me how important it is to look at life through a lens of curiosity and open mindedness. Different cultures, different people, and different places have unique ways of doing things (and that’s ok). Being able to grow and connect from that difference is where the power and learning happens. Being at boarding school taught me the power of authentic learning, cross cultural understanding, teamwork, collaboration, communication, and commitment. Learning how to navigate a space with people from so many different backgrounds and perspectives is challenging, but it’s also rewarding and fulfilling to know how many people you connect with along the way. Excited to see where I go next, and I aspire to connect with as many people as I can to learn about the communities and people I am working to support and engage with. Although it’s the only paid job I have ever had, working as a housekeeper at the YMCA taught me valuable skills about working effectively as a team member, maintaining high standards of work quality, and having fun while doing so. In every space that I have worked and engaged with I strive to make the most of the experience and do everything I can do to make it a slightly better place then when I found it. Something I practice through engagement with work in an open minded but intentional manner.
