After selecting the most suitable sensing technology, I designed, fabricated and characterized combined ultra-flexible blood flow and pressure sensors to be included at the tip of 360 µm medical guidewires. Together with the Micro Systems and Devices group at Philips Research, a novel technological platform for the fabrication of smart flexible medical sensors was developed (so-called F2R technology).In order to improve the umechanical flexibility of the devices, I also focused on the characterization and simulation of the stress – strain distribution in devices under bending.
