About Benjamin Nanninga
I found my passion for user experience and digital technology doing freelance work taking a project from start to finish every step of the way: concept, client meetings, marketing strategy, social media integration, CMS choice, print pieces, web design, graphic design, user experience, and web development. In the past decade of my professional career I've had the opportunity to be a servant leader, mentor, and to roll up my sleeves to execute the work directly. Happy, engaged people who collaborate and communicate well have the power and desire to make awesome products that take care of customers. I tend to focus on team dynamics, department partnerships, and sharing of the team's portfolio of work while also zooming in on the details of projects to instill continuous learning, sharpening of skills, focus on best practices, and offer process improvement. My goal is to create digital experiences that work, convert, and engage. If they can be easy, pretty, and fun that is an added bonus, that is budget, tech approach, and deadline permitting.Commerce has gone multi-channel and digital is where customers of all types spend more and more time - the more we can use design to build to their personalized needs the more we can enable better lives (less stress, more time, advanced productivity, and their business' success).

Manager, North American User Experience, Sales & Marketing Technology, & Edi
CurrentUX & IT Team Manager, Scrum Master, and quality digital experience advocate.
Manager Of User Experience
CurrentAs part of the Digital Experience department the User Experience team ensures that the digital products we roll out to customers are meaningful, helpful, and delightful. We design and analyze experiences to support business owners and shoppers in their daily transactions and business optimization. Human-centered design and data-driven decisions guide our work to ensure we enable our IT partners to implement features that really improve customers' lives and their business success. Our technology powerfully allows us to deliver business optimizing experiences that add value beyond our food and non-food physical offerings.
Manager, Digital Experience
Digital Experience is changing the way companies do business. The internet is open and available when the walk-in locations and phone lines are not - it's also just many people's channel of choice. The digital experience is both virtual sales agent and virtual customer service representative. I manage a small but mighty team of talented user experience and user interface designers who create experiences that champion empathy for the customer. The expectations for digital experiences are being set by household names like Amazon, Uber, and even Pokemon Go - we ensure that our digital experiences align similarly with customer expectations, setting them up for success in achieving their goals on our site and in our apps. We work to make every digital interaction human, meaningful, and helpful. With enough empathy and the right context they can even become delightful. Priority Health is a champion for our customers well-being and so are we, we remove whatever friction we can to get them access to the care they need and arm them with the personalized and transparent information they expect.
Sr. Ux/Ui Designer
An experience starts as an idea. Usually my idea. And then a whiteboard. On the whiteboard the first thing that is drawn is a stick figure. That's Phil. Phil is our customer. Without Phil nothing else we could draw on the board has meaning. Then Phil generally bumps into an iPhone or a computer and arrives at priorityhealth.com. Then things really start to get interesting. Phil remembers he has a task to complete and a path to that task's completion becomes readily apparent. Business owners tell me what it is they want Phil to do while he's there as well. I negotiate with them on behalf of Phil reminding them he came here to complete a specific action and while the major business objectives will be met we will not distract Phil from his primary objective. We will design the win-win, where Phil accomplishes what he intended to do in tandem with what we wanted him to do. Phil is happy and we are happy. Now this idea needs to be on brand and slick. So I go into Photoshop & Illustrator and make it so. If there's time, the idea is prototyped and tested with a panel of real Phils. It is tweaked and honed. It's time to make it real, so we start the agile development cycle. Deadlines and budgets bring us to Minimally Viable Product and the first release of the idea goes into production. I remind the Project Manager that this new piece is part of a larger experience that happens with the customer over time not in this single transaction in this single application. Integration steps with other projects occur. Some functionality may have been scoped out for time, but overall it has a positive emotional effect on Phil and ROI for the company. Then the idea is live in the wild, and we track how it's doing. Did Phil like it as much as we thought? What do the feedback results say? Are the KPIs being achieved?Ultimately the juncture of systems thinking, technical feasibility, user needs, and business objectives results in customer and business success - I ensure this.
Web Interface Designer
I defined & designed websites and web applications.Step 1 - Meet with product owner and flesh out what the goals for the project were.Step 2 - Design wireframes, information architecture & user flows within business objectives and user needsStep 3 - Make hi-fidelity mockups in Photoshop & IllustratorStep 4 - Code a testable prototypeStep 5 - Bring in a panel of users to give feedback on the prototypeStep 6 - Make tweaks to the designStep 7 - Work with agile development team to implement the solutionStep 8 - Watch analytic metrics and feedback for insightsStep 9 - Create a new role (see above) and take a step back from each individual project and start looking at the big picture and the holistic experience
