Throughout my education I developed a keen interest in music (especially classical) and composition. I since went on to gain experience teaching music in classrooms as part of my university course as well as observing and understanding the process of putting on a production at Opera North. In my final year, I was manager of the university music society's chamber orchestra, after having performed in orchestras throughout my education. A wide variety of musical experience during university resulted in achieving a first-class degree in music, supplemented by certificates of commendation for my work at levels 1-3 including the Frank Toothill Award for first year students who have shown the most merit. I have since gone on to use these skills as a self-employed teacher, composer and surtitlist, as well as continuing to be involved in the running of musical events in Yorkshire whenever I can. I am continually interested in performance and am working to complete an ABRSM Diploma in cello. I write regular blog posts on the topic of understanding and introducing classical music.
