Our Team's Senior Capstone Project at DePaul University established a working relationship with Wrightwood Neighbors Association board member Chadd Bennett for refreshing the current WordPress website to make it more engaging for community members and adding new features for community events.The update of https://www.wrightwoodneighbors.org/ lasted length of DePaul University's Winter and Spring Quarter. The main objective consisted of working in an agile-based development system to update the look of the website to make it user-friendly and responsive along with adding new membership features, event signup method and condensing content to fewer pages while also increasing (SEO) performance and page ranking of the website. Ideally, we want to mimic our competitors and make a consistent site eliminating any redundant information.The current website utilized Google Forms and PayPal's payment portal system which made it difficult to track membership signups from community members and the system would need to be updated to implement event signups as as well a seamless experience for users to purchase memberships while also sending out renewal reminders yearly. We want to make it as easy on the user so they have an experience that is effortless and does not leave any questions. The association's board member workflow aligned with the expectations of a Scrum Framework. As a team, we established rules to properly follow Agile development practices and also use it to compare everyone's contribution to the project. The deliverables were gathered from the client and as a team we worked on Product Backlog Items in weekly development sprints properly following all Sprint ceremonies.During the project conclusion, our team expects to complete the groundwork for the website which the board member can utilize to further expand on to increase membership signups and event registration, while also adding ability for local businesses to sign up on their directory list.
